I cannot find my problem here and I'm not seeing the solution.

A bang is connected to a toggle. When this toggle receives the bang it needs to de engaged for a certain time.

So I bang the thing and the toggle switches "on" for like 1 second. After this time it goes back to "off".

Did I miss anything obvious?

are you trying to make the toggle automatically switch from ON to OFF after 1 second and are having trouble.

or

is a bang and toggle switching back to OFF without you doing anything.

is anything else in your patch connected to the bang or toggle?

The toggle is OFF. Bang is hooked up somewhere in a patch and gets banged from somewhere else. If banged, the toggle is switched ON for 1 second. If banged again, in the second it gets ignored. If banged after the second, the process repeats.

save a copy of your patch, and then do the following:

disconnect any cables running into the bang. also disconnect any sends to that bang.

now bang it, and see if your toggle still acts weird.

if it doesn't, then reconnect the bang, and look elsewhere in your patch for possible sources of the glitch. if it's happening after 1 second, a [del] object could be the culprit.

disconnect any 1 second delays, and see what happens.

My computer is hooked up with 4 microphones. In pd I'm setting a treshold (sliders), so if a certain volume is reached pd fills an array with this recording. The problem is, if this treshold value is reached it gets banged a lot of times, so it only writes away a very short amount of time. The toggle witch follows the bang (indicating the treshold value is reached) is flickering on and off. I want to change this somehow so the toggle is on for like one second when the first bang is detected and is back off after this, when we have a new bang now we can start again (1second on).

yes i think the confusion was with the phrasing:

we thought that was what the toggle was doing, not what you wanted it to do.

anyway, all cleared up now.

for a once only toggle bang with 1 sec delay,

do this:

and then run the output of the [0 ( message back into the [change] object too (bit hard to draw that with the ascii.)

It seems to work if I hook up the delay after the toggle.

ah sorry, there should have been a bang between the [change] and the [del], otherwise the number value sent from [change] becomes the delay time. my mistake. sorry
