Hey Guys, I just got a used NSLU2 and I want to put PD on it (naturally.) I've got my linux install working and I'm ssh'ing in and trying to install PDa (pure data anywhere) binary version. Here's the outcome;

# ipkg install pda_0.4-r1_arm.ipk
Clearing state_want and state_flag for pkg=pda (arch_priority=0 flag=16 want=2)
Nothing to be done
An error ocurred, return value: 4.
Collected errors:
Cannot find package pda.
Check the spelling or perhaps run 'ipkg update'

Anybody with embedded experience wanna help me out?

Aparrently ipkg doesn't have a man page !!

Run ipkg -h or --help and see what you get

If its anything much like dpkg, (which is the old Debian installer from which I assume it descends) then the problem is that

1. You need to update your sources list
2. Your DNS for the repository isn't working
3. wget or something else it relies on isn't working

Do as it says and run update

Try getting the pda_0.4-r1_arm.ipk file from anywhere you can, pop it in a directory somewhere and run from the same directory ipkg -i ./pda_0.4-r1_arm.ipk

I am pretty sure that the strange message there means that the package is not the right architecture for that OS. I don't think there is an pda ipkg for NSLU2, but if you are still interested, I could make you one.

Thanks hans, I ended up compiling everything from source for maximum robustitude.
