Ok, to start, I have searched this topic and there are revelant posts, however, few and far between..

I am quite surprised there is not more info on this topic as I would consider these to be staple video effects..

It would seem to me that trails are a video based delay effect, creating copies of the original object with decreased opacity..

Motion blur a variant of the above but it would seem like there is no physical space between the copies....the pix convolve object seems to use a bit of a blur effect.

I don't believe its possible to use Delaywrite/read with GEM, if I am wrong, I would love to know...

This purpose of this thread is of course for me to find a solution but also to introduce this topic anew, as I think these effects should be more accessible within the community..

Thanks in advance for any light shed!

I think if you do a text serch of pd and its subfolbers (especially gem of course) you will find all of the effects that you expect, as they are all "taken care of" for GEM as textures by openGl (I think)......

Thx so much for your rapid response as always! Yes, I spent an hour last night looking through the GEM help folder..

I saw pix_motionblur, however, the example was for video, not objects or images for example..

I should have been specific, I am looking to apply these effects to .jpg files..

However, now that you mention it, it could work...

I didn´t see any gem objects for trails, however as you said...there are many folders to check....

edit: i don't why 'fic' is written below my post :/

fic

I did try it, however, it crashes 'pd.com' when I try..

And @whale-av, I searched the pd folder for "trails" to no avail, zero results....I just tested [pix_motionblur] and it seems to do nothing, as I said, it seems as If its meant for video..

Thanks again for your input both of you!!

The motion would come from manipulating the axis, via the scale and translate objects for example...

so I would like the effects to process this movement...

Another idea would be to make multiple copies of the image and then manipulate them all at once....

I have been looking for an object or method to accomplish this, but to no avail so far...any ideas?

EDIT: apparently zexy [repeat] makes copies....i just tried....i didn't see any copies, the trick is to separate them as logically, without any other commands, they would be superimposed upon one another...leading to the illusion that there are no copies....
