i would like to use my my launchpad to control patches. i cant find a working driver, there is one post here about it but the links are dead. has anybody launchpad running in linux here? thanks!

Launchpad should run in any distro from the last couple of years as ALSA drivers were added some time ago.

thanks! ... it doesnt show up in qjackctl. how do i check for it or how do i connect it to pure data? anybody around who has done this?

I use it with debian wheezy and if i plug it when the system is up jack show me the midi ports, i don't now, there are some drivers around but i never try (compile them it's not for me :-/) time ago, i use a driver, i don't remeber but maybe i can found the source and i'll post here.

I don't know the launchpad- Does it use an old midi cabling or USB midi? If it uses the USB, check your USB connections in the terminal
lsusb
and see if the device is recognized. You might try patchage as well, I find it easier to see than qjackctl's midi.
