<p>I want to make the SHAPER block of the Kurzweil K-xxxx synths in Pd. I've looked at everything in the manuals and the forum, all great stuff, but the behavior of the kurzweil waveshaper is different. FM synthesis seems closer to what's happening, but with complex waveforms it becomes clear something else is going on.</p>
<p>It's all there in the patch file, which is more impressive than my actual progress or understanding of the matter. It's set up for easy AB-ing of a pd osc~ and an audio file of a sine wave being affected by the SHAPER (low to high parameter). Also included is the kurzweil manual information and a recreation, in pd, of an attempt posted in the reaktor forum.</p>
<p>If anyone wants to take a crack at this that would be awesome. I can include more audio files if it would be helpful. Thank you.</p>

For whatever reason I wasn't getting the sounds at first using the wobblybass patch (with fixed expr~ objects instead of operators) - so I started looking elsewhere (turns out the reaktor patch was almost the same thing).</p>
<p>I was going to write this but I decided to give it another shot first - and yes, the pattern is similar to the audio file when the shaper is sent through the hip~ and tanh~ objects after.</p>
<p>Here is a slight alteration with one &quot;amount&quot; parameter. It is very close to the range of the audio file, give or take. Still trying to understand the purpose of the limit parameter...</p>
<p>Thanks for pointing to that patch/library. I'll leave this post up for that reason. Nice work!</p>
<p>I recommend sending partial waves through the shaper and adjusting the relative volumes.</p>
