My name is James, I am relatively new to pure data, and just recently my copy has stopped working - of course my first reaction was to look online at various fixes, to which I concluded the problem must be the saved state function on Mac OSX 10.8.2 messing with the loadup of PD-extended. I then attempted to find the saved state file(s) within User/Library/Saved Application State/ to no avail. I also tried removing PD-extended and reinstalling a new version, the same problem happens. I would prefer not to reinstall my entire OS just because of a silly problem like this, any thoughts?

"stopped working" is not a helping definition of the problem. Say more details about what you do, expect and happens.

Anyway, see what happens if you delete the files
~/Library/Preferences/org.puredata.*

so long as my phone is tethered as a bluetooth internet device to my macbook, it allows puredata to start, load up files, perfectly, however it shows the following error message on startup:

(Tcl) UNHANDLED ERROR: no files matched glob pattern "*.*"
while executing

I have absolutely no idea why this works, or what the error message means, but at least I now know how to get it up and running.

The error is that pd-extended NOT puredata have failed to load the "fix" code at the specific path. You should change the file's permission to allow all read & write (& execute maybe). Maybe this is why the "fix" did not workout for you.

EDIT: I trashed preferences and got PD back again!
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/org.puredata*
