dear all,

I'd like to buy either an iPod touch or a high-end Android device (Acer Liquid), but I'm unsure about which one...
Of course I'd like to stay "open" and I'm quite biased towards Android, however it seems to me that Pd still requires a lot of time in order to work properly on Android devices...
On the other hand I'm not sure whether Pd is really working on the iPod... I can't find any example video where this is proved, and I read on puredata.info that the GUI is still missing.

I don't want rjdj, just plain Pd, better if working also with my own externals.

As far as I know the only way to use pd with an ipod touch is via rjdj, i use it and it's nice but you have to use the rjdj library and learn how built stuff to interact via touchscreen and ipod's sensors.

about android I saw there's a PD release: http://puredata.info/docs/developer/BuildingPdForAndroid/?searchterm=android

but I didn't test it and I really wanna know how does it act because it seems cool:

Well I have an android device, but I didn't try the pd version available at puredata.info, mainly because I have a PPC machine, and there is no NDK available.

Waiting for the full pd for android, it will most certainly come, I found some app to communicate via OSC with pd (with custom sliders or getting the orientation and accelerometer of the phone). So for now I can just control pd with my phone but it's quite cool already

i forgot the OSC and wireless way to communicate with PD.
The iPodTouch has many applications to do that. I tried TouchOSC, it perfectly works with PD, you can built your interfaces and find patches (http://hexler.net/software/touchosc) for many softwares.
Nowadays it's possible to pay a used ipodtouch less than a Android smartphone...

unfortunately, the remote control option via OSC is not my goal... let's hope Pd for Android, or even a proper GUI for Pd on iPhone, will come soon!

I'm not sure what the current status is but its being worked on quite intensivly I believe.

If it's not too late and a daily phone is not what you look for .
Freerunner runs pd vanilla/extended pretty well .
It runs several linux and android .
It has an anti thief included by designers .
