Pd on Eeepc?

Does anyone on here run Pd on an Asus Eeepc? The Xandros Linux flavour that is...

I've aquired one recently and would like to get Pd running on it but not sure which version to try and load and where to get it from (i.e. which repository etc.)

I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be any HOWTO type wiki's out there for Pd, just people who mention that they have it working but not much mention of how.

Any tips/proceedures/walkthroughs gratefully received.

Install Pure:Dyne distro it's all set up and ready to go.

Mind if I ask how you got it installed? Are you booting off a usb stick?

yeah, currently from a usb stick, although I want to get it on an SD card, but ideally I want to install an entirely custom built GNU/linux with all the neccasery drivers blah blah, installed on the HD, not live like Pure:dyne.

But that's where linuxfromscratch.org will come in handy.

Have a look at Unetbootin, it makes installing distros massively easy.

You'll need a LOT of time to get linuxfromscratch.org to the performance level of any of the standard distros..... But a fun way to spend the weekend

Thanks Arif, have created a bootable pure:dyne using unetbootin, so cheers for the tip.

Next stop will be to get it booting form the SD card, guess I should just be able to copy the contents of the USB stick onto the card and then set the boot order of preference to the SD card...?

Will give it a whirl anyway.

Let me know if you get the SD thing working. Just got the "carrot and corriander" version of pure dyne working.

I'm pretty sure just copying the contents over doesn't quite work.

There's a dev version which is pretty near completion (I don't want to link up if incase I'm not allowed to) but it can be found if you search around. That uses Ubunutu's Ubiquity software to install a non-live version onto your HD.

Yes, the next version of Pure:dyne will be based on ubuntu.

Otherwise I spent a lot of time using this:

it does benefit from some tweaking of certain config files and downloads of different drivers e.t.c. to get optimum performance, but with or without it's a simple

$ sudo apt-get install pd-extended

to have Pd ready to go.

If you want me to I can have a snoot around for the file where I listed all the tweaks I performed to get it up to scratch
