Hello, again forum! I posted 4 months ago because I was having issues with else externals, which I was able to solve by building the latest version of PD.

Now I am running into problems again. I have a new Raspberry Pi 5 running Debian GNU/Linux 12. I have built PD 0.55-1 and it is running successfully, but when I search for else externals library in deken is get the following:

"else": Found 0 usable packages (of 5 packages in total).
It appears that there are no matching packages for your architecture.

I looked on the github page for else and it says that "This version of ELSE needs Pd 0.55-1 or above.", which is the version I have.

I wonder if anyone can provide some advice? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The only thing that is different from 4 months ago when I solved this problem is that I'm now using a pi 5?

Aparently, there are no binaries for the architecture of Pi 5, which is different than Pi 3 (and I think 4 too). You can try and get the sources and build it yourself. In deken, go to Edit -> Preferences, and untick "Hide foreign architectures", to get all the results when you search for a package. One of the else packages should contain the sources and instructions on how to build it.

Unfortunately we are having issues with a couple of new externals when building for the raspberry pi. This happened with the latest update (RC13). @timothyschoen was working on this.

You should be able to build most of objects of RC12 more easily I guess. It uses the old pd-lib-builder method which might be easier as well.

Unfortunately I just have a mac and no VMs to build things :/ I always need the help of a pi user to build this

Thanks for this info. I would volunteer my help but I don't think I have the experience yet. I'm not actually sure where to start, although I did find an old youtube tutorial detailing the pd-lib-builder compiling process:

So maybe I'll figure out how to compile RC12 in the meantime!

RC13 is not released yet, I meant RC12 in that old comment, which is the last current release.

We're gonna release an update soon in a couple of weeks, and I hope @timothyschoen helps us dealingwith the issues for building for raspberry pi. It is on my list to try and make this available for the pi and I hope there are people out there who can help me building it and testing it.

I've just run into the same issue, regarding else on a 64-bit Rpi OS.

Has anyone had success compiling RC12? I haven't tried the pd-lib-builder method. I did try using the compilation instructions on the Github page, but to no avail. It ran but did not seem to work...

I'm reverting back to a 32-bit OS to see if that will work.

We're running into issues building for the Pi... Like I said, I hope @timothyschoen helps us deal with them so we can build it. And note that RC13 is coming out in a couple of weeks or so by the way

@porres no worries. I hope you can fix it. It would be brilliant to have running on the Pi. Especially with the multichannel support.

I tried compiling on a 32-bit operating system and this is the log. I didn't get very far, unfortunately. But maybe this is useful for you and @timothyschoen

@porres @timothyschoen whoops, I realised I compiled from the wrong source. Here's a failed compile with the 0.55-2 source.

Is it to do with float32 in some way?
