ofelia window creation have issues with the new pd-52, the author is working on it so better use pd-51-4 now since it should run well on all systems (I use it on MacOS, Linux and Windows now).

Script also seems to add some files to OF, so it might solve the problem, but the deken install having the same issue leaves me doubtful. Thanks for pointing out the obvious, it is often exactly what I need.

The second script is the cause of all my frustration that night, OF's build instructions are just a few scripts for major distros which leave anyone using other distros in the dark, I had to sift through all the scripts and find what packages I was missing, so lots of failed build attempts on OF and a few fun diversions into problems building those dependencies by the time I got to ofelia. 99% certain I got all those, OF did build error free.

I edited the Ofelia makefiles to use the system libraries for runtime paths instead of the OF libs, same problem. This suggests that the two libraries which the Ofelia makefiles explicitly links to the OF libs in the makefiles (kiss and tess2) are the culprit, they are trying to find the libraries they were compiled against. But this raises the question as to why it is a problem for me and not for everyone using archlinux, which uses the same versions or newer of the libraries as I have. So I will try replacing them with my own versions in a few days when I have time to fight with this again. Unless someone else has a bright idea.

The install_dependencies.sh script is part of OpenFrameWorks and from what I can tell they lack linux devs or even anyone knowledgeable about linux, Ophelia community is only slightly better but since they rely on the OpenFrameWorks scripts can not help much and my attempts to get help from them just resulted in being told to run the script. I would try Rasbian or Patchbox forums/github and suspect the solution will be building the dependencies, OpenFrameWorks and Ophelia yourself, which is not fun but doable with a little determination.
,
My best guess is that one of your dependencies is not the proper version or compiled against an incorrect version because you are not running Debian but a derivative of Debian, this was 90% of my problem and compiling everything from scratch solved all except that last issue, which could have just been my pd install but I lost steam. I have scant rpi experience and it has been around 20 years since I have used a Debian system so can not offer much help.

"I think that might be because the dependencies needed are outdated.
If you know how to build the Ofelia external on Raspberry Pi, it might work if you use this branch (https://github.com/cuinjune/Ofelia/tree/update/v4.1.0) to build the external (I tested it on macOS and Ubuntu). You can use openFrameworks 0.11.2 and follow this instruction: https://github.com/cuinjune/Ofelia#setup-guide"

I hear you. On my Mac in combination with https://github.com/60-hz/Ofelia-Fast-Prototyping abs it all went very smooth. I wanted to do glitchy experiments with a couple of junky web cams and just wanted to quickly get a feel for the concept before deciding to go on. For what I am trying achieve I think Ofelia is good enough. But I do not like the idea of locking the project to Mac only. What other programming languages would you consider?

Perhaps the OpenGL class of FLTK/GTK/QT and a suitable library would meet your needs? Or SDL2? I do not know much about computer video type stuff. Perhaps one of the libraries which Ophelia/OpenFrameWorks depend on and any language which it has bindings for will offer what you need?
