<p>I vaguely remember the rule is -- if the externals are bundled into one binary file, e.g. zexy.pd_linux, cyclone.pd_linux, Gem.pd_linux, then the directory needs to go into &quot;startup.&quot; If they are separate binaries per external, then &quot;path&quot; is enough.</p>
<p>I'm writing installation instructions for a class. Just checking to make sure I get it right (and avoid unnecessary steps).</p>
