I wonder if anyone can suggest something. I am running Vanilla 0.47.1 on Windows 7. On mac, I have had no problem installing and getting Hoa and Cream libraries to work. On Windows 7 though, this is really a nightmare.

I have followed the instructions packaged with the Hoa and Cream libraries and also the advice in the tutorial on installing libraries...I have been using Pd for years and have installed libraries on both mac and windows many times without problem anyway, but I just cannot get these to load.

I have tried putting them into the "extra" folder. Also the AppData folder, the Common Files folder, (where Deken places things by default), and many other places...AppData/Roaming for example...but nothing works. has anyone any advice on this? I guess it must be Windows 7, because I had this working 2 weeks ago on a mac.

@Coalman still having the problem. installed Vanilla pd afresh. other libraries (cylcone, zexy, etc) create no problem. hoa and cream, however do not create at all. any ideas?

@Coalman Not using those libraries..... but I thought I would give it a go...... using windows7...
Having unzipped and unencrypted the folders I tried pointing Pd Vanilla at them (edit-preferences-startup) with no success.
Then I saw that Pd declared inconsistency, and had altered the path to the folders, removing the / slashes, adding brackets etc...... like this........

Correcting, re-checking OK and restarting Pd vanilla had "Hoa" working......... but correcting for "Cream" crashes Pd..........?
That could be because I have not actually installed Vanilla....... it is just sitting on my desktop.
Maybe it is very fussy about using the exact correct install path?... see "install" and "readme".
Check the Preferences Startup paths though.

still trying. have tried all sorts of different varieties of startup flags...putting the libraries in various places also (/extra folder, /users/%me%/roaming/pd folder, users/%me%/libraries/pd, %appdata% ...etc nothing)
such a drag because I have a lot of work I developed just two weeks ago on a mac, but my own computer is this windows 7 one, so it would be so great to be able to access this stuff here

I wonder about trashing the preferences file and then remaking the paths...I cant figure out where they are on Windows 7. Hkey/software/pd used to be the location of pd preferences on windows (it was stored in the registry) but I dont see a "software" folder in windows 7....

and sorry, "library" not libraies..haha.

but I have found the problem, as @whale-av suggested earlier it is the cream library that seems to be causing the problem.
I am able to load .dll for both hoa and cream now
this is working from the /extra folder with startup flags -lib Cream -lib Hoa
I can load hoa object that do not use the guis however, as soon as I try to open anything dependent on Cream (including any of the hoa help files) Pd crashes.

I might timidly and humbly beg the mighty @Pierre-Guillot to have a look? maybe I just need to alter some windows setting somewhere? or insert the cream dll somewhere else?

I now think, given the error dump when PD crashes, that it is not a problem with the Cream library and Windows 7 as the .dll seems to load before the crash, but rather that possibly the CICM wrapper that allows for the drawing of the Cream GUI objects is not working properly with Windows 7, or at least mine. Will investigate this and post results here in case someone else has the same problem... could use some expert ideas on this though, not really sure how or where these processes are called and in what order...any more ideas/input welcome

what is really so confusing is that I have this in the pd window:
"tried C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Pd/Cream/Cream.dll and succeeded"
and
"tried C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Pd/Hoa/Hoa.dll and succeeded"

yet at the same time if I try to create any object from either of these libraries pd crashes

ah no it is definately Cream crashing things, because hoa patches that do not contain Cream GUI object work fine. problem then is that I cannot refer to help files which is a drag because I need to change settings for the different configurations I am experimenting with. meters would also be useful of course, one of the advantages of these libraries.

I wish i could just abandon this windows 7 quest and use the school's super hot macs, but unfortunately I haven't administrator privileges on those and therefore have other problems

I wonder if i should try to recompile cream?
