No sound

Hi all,

pd (Ver 0.40-2 by M. S. Puckette) doesn't produce any sound on my system (PC (1999), Win98SE) ,
not with testtone.pd or any of the sound examples.
Compute audio is on.
In Media/Audio Settings the name of my onboard sound card is shown correctly (ESS AudioDrive).
My sequencer programs and the Windows Media player work properly.

are you using GEM by chance? I am having the exact same problem and am having a *helluva* time figuring it out. I thought the problem was my intel mac, then switched over to my powerPC, where the sound has worked very recently. (just before this unfortunate post in fact.)

Noob alert

anyhow, I am trying to link audio numbers to numbers which are controlling my video signal and in both instances(both computers) I can no longer get ANY audio out of pure data. my patches, the examples. nothing.

now, I didnt answer your question, but maybe we can get closer to a solution?

Go to Preferences > Audio Settings
then choose your built-in-audio or whatever device you use
I have noticed that when I use my isight with GEM, PD sometimes defaults to use it as input AND output (!)
try that and I bet you will be ok
