i am searching for a way to combine openpanel with open and readsf.

at the moment my patch looks like this:

[open /../../file.waw]

[readsf~]
|
[dac~]

this works good.

now i want to combine this with openpanel, that i can faster choose files.

i tried to get the string from openpanel over $i like this:

[openpanel]

[open $i]
|
[readsf~]
|
[dac~]

this dont works.

can anyone help me?

Hello,

You'll want to change the $i to $1. Pd likes variables to be numbers so it can sort variables packed into a list. For example:

[3 6(
|
[expr $2/$1]

would put 6 (the second number in the list) in $2 and 3 in $1.

Also, the [1( is used to start the [readsf~] playing. I noticed your patch was trying to start the [readsf~] before it loaded the file, probably because it's not triggered in the right order. If you want it to start playing right away, you can add it to you open message, i.e. [open $1, 1( will open the file and send it 1 immediately afterward to get it playing. Or just use a trigger.

i think i need to read me more deeply into all the things. its hard for me to read all the english, so its realy hard for me.

atached there is an example from the freeverb patch. which does what i want, and what you described above.

now i am trying to loop the play, but i dont get it.

readsf~ sends a bang after the sample is finisched. but when i connect it with open, nothing happens. when i connect this with openpanel, the dialog opens.

how can i safe the path to the file for next restart?
and how can i loop the playing?

do someone knows a good knowledge resource about puredata in german language?

I don't know of any, but if none exist, perhaps one should be created. Language barriers shouldn't be a barrier to using software! There is the German wiki, but there doesn't seem to be much on it as of yet. This page and this one list Pd forums and documentation in a variety of languages in case you're fluent in any others, but none auf Deutsch. There seem to be plenty of German speakers using Pd though, so maybe if you start a thread here or e-mail the Pd list, you could find some documentation, or drum up support for a Pd forum in German, or get more people to edit the German Pd wiki.
