hey I'm getting back in trouble with GEM... I recently move on to l2ork wich I realy love but I still have gem problemes. first of all at the l2ork instalation GEM is installed but not loaded by default so I added it to the path and the comands wich resolved a lot of trouble, I can creat gemheaad, gemwin and others but i can't use thing's like color object. For example I will give you the patch I'm trying to load wich basicly do what an oscioloscpe in xy mode do.
any idea of the cause(s) of this trouble, maybe another library/dependecy of GEM that I don't have ?

thanks for your reply. l2ork is linux only, i'm using the latest release of ubuntu and Pd-l2ork version is 20160227

Gem is quite dependant upon OpenGl as its rendering engine. Many gem objects pass commands to OpenGl and ask it to do the real work.... so I would suggest trying to update OpenGl first and find the version that works "best" with your video card....... which also does a major part of the "work"....

My first post here, yay! Pd-L2Ork builds as of late have been very distro specific for reasons unknown to me. We are currently using Ubuntu 15.10 and given it is not an LTS release, this may have something to do with it. At any rate, what may help solve your problem is building the entire thing from scratch which boils down to 2 commands:

1. installing dependencies found at pd.l2ork.org (big yellow box--you may find some dependencies may have a different package name on your distro, these are Ubuntu and possibly Debian-specific)

2. running the script tar_em_up.sh (as per instructions below on that same page)

Depending on how fast your CPU may be, you will need to wait anywhere between 20 minutes to 2 hours for the entire thing to compile, after which you will have a deb to install from there. This will ensure that the Gem library has been built against your specific OS libraries.

If you encounter installing the newly built package, let me know and we will investigate how to make control file more malleable (something we need to address anyhow).

BTW, pd-l2ork is not Linux-only anymore. Thanks to Jonathan's hard work, we now have alpha builds for OSX and Windows. Hope this helps!

hey thank's for your reply, I can't find the script you mentioned (tar_em_up.sh) where is it ?
I will also try the alpha osx and/or windows build it's such a good thing...

I don't exactly know but more than an hour, I ran it before going to bed and checked it an hour later before falling asleep but that was long yea
